Tamworth, England – Tottenham Hotspur will go through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after a grueling battle against the non-league side Tamworth, winning 3-0 after extra time.
The match took place at the Lamb Ground, where Tamworth put up a gallant fight, taking on the Premier League giants for extended time. The hosts, currently playing in the 16th position of the National League, were able to hold for 101 minutes until that longed goal finally arrived.
It was the 101st minute when Tamworth substitute Nathan Tshikuna inadvertently netted the ball, deflecting Dominic Solanke’s shot beyond goalkeeper Jas Singh, putting the hosts ahead. As Spurs enjoyed the momentum, Dejan Kulusevski doubled the lead in the 107th minute, while Brennan Johnson sealed victory with a third in the 118th minute.
Tamworth manager Andy Peaks praised the performances of his team, stating that the exertion taken to reach extra time almost brought about one of the biggest upsets in the history of the FA Cup. Peaks expressed pride, despite losing, at seeing his side’s determination and desire to win.
